Somehow, my blog post for this great day vanished into thin air. I wish I could say the same for cancer! Anyway, I just registered for this year's event. On the same day, today, I celebrate 23 months of no cancer but with caution. I got a call from my oncologist that there is a funky spot with the lungs. We all want to think it is because I was sick for like 3 months and only got well just before the scans. Fingers crossed.
Anyway, on to better things. I wanted to repost the pictures from a great day that brought together people from so many parts of my life-friends, family, Weight Watcher friends, HS friends, work friends-an amazing group of people!!
I got to carry the 'brelli' which is a sun umbrella being passed around the melanoma community. I was so excited for this honor. Dave won an award for his age group. I got to meet a melahomie from online-in person!!! I am looking forward to another great walk/run this year!!!
I am also signed up for Relay For Life again this year. I found it to be a bit overwhelming emotionally last year.....I was with survivor friends and walking the Survivor lap did me in. Then Dave walked the caregiver lap and I thought about all of the changes that have happened in our lives. This is not an easy thing to navigate! However, I am more prepared this year and hope for better weather than the deluge the day before relay that created a muddy mess! I am thinking of doing another relay event......the one in the town where my school is located. I have several students participating and I think it would be amazing to walk a lap or two with them and for them to see me walk the survivor lap. Lots of walking events coming up!!!
